Understanding the Third Space with Children

Connection. Comfort. Conversation.

A Space Between Words and Understanding

At Third Space Therapy, we believe support happens in the space between what a child wants to say and what adults need to understand. This “third space” is where ideas are explored, feelings take shape, and meaningful connection begins.

Through stories, conversation, and creative practice, we help children build language, literacy, and emotional awareness. This doesn’t just strengthen how they communicate, it deepens their relationships, supports their mental health, and gives them tools to express themselves with confidence. Whether you’re a parent, carer, educator, or professional, we offer guidance, strategies, and tailored resources to help you hold that space alongside your child.

How we work

Every child—and every family—is unique. That’s why Linda’s approach blends therapeutic support with consultancy and education, working closely with parents, carers, and educators to foster meaningful change.

Drawing on bibliotherapy and narrative therapy as her primary modalities, alongside principles of early childhood education, Linda offers developmentally informed, story-based support tailored to each child and context.

It’s never one-size-fits-all: sometimes it’s working directly with a child, sometimes it’s equipping parents with practical strategies, or collaborating with educators to build more connected, responsive classrooms. And sometimes, it’s simply finding the right book at the right time—opening new ways to talk, learn, and grow together.

What we offer

Stories are powerful tools for connection. They help children make sense of big feelings, expand their language, and build the confidence to express themselves. For adults, they open windows into a child’s thoughts, helping you listen, guide, and respond in ways that matter.

Everything we do is guided by the belief that children thrive when adults feel supported, informed, and connected—holding space for discovery, growth, and resilience.
